Our first meeting with Santa!

Clayton is now 4 and Lindy only 8 months but I decided that this year we WILL go see Santa. I took Clayton last year and it was a disaster. I was 5 month pregnant, it was cold and wet but I wanted it to happen so we went. We stood in line for a hour and a half patiently waiting our turn as child by child went up to see Mr. Jolly and made their requests. I was sketchy from the start that we would succeed because last year Clayton was extremely shy and wanted nothing to do with anyone that spoke to him. But he wanted to go and I wanted to see it. We got to 3rd in line and he flaked!! I was not surprised but pretty annoyed but just scooped him up and we left.
This year he's been a lot more into santa and understanding that you have to tell him what you want for him to being you your presents so we tried again and took sister along.
Clayton was all about it and sat right on down and made his requests( dragon castle and skis) and did sooo good. Sister on the other hand wanted nothin to do with it but not to be deterred we got our picture with Santa and mad our Christmas wishes and told sister to get over it. Gotta love it right. Happy holidays!

A Christmas Dress

Well it's that time of year again. Time for presents and bows and trees full of lights and......the dreaded Christmas outfits. This year is the first year I get to dress little Miss Lindy and of course I HAD to make it!!! So off on the hunt for fabric and ideas and change ideas and change fabric and so on. Until I just decided to smock a bishop. And make it red. Then I had the task of finding the perfect plate to smock on it. This proved harder than I anticipated. But finally I settled on Waiting for Santa by Junebug Designs. Such a cute little plate but in my head the all red bishop I planned didn't picture right and I wasn't putting all that effort into it and not like it. So we are going with a jumper and insert. And this here is her first christmas dress. I don't have a pattern for a jumper with an insert so I just winged it the best I could. Made by momma of course!! I do think I like a bishop a lot better though. And I'm getting a pleater for Christmas so it's time to get busy on them. Can't wait to start! Have a Merry Christmas everyone!!

Whats for Dinner? Wednesday

I am a major Pinterest addict. i will admit that I have a problem but I refuse any treatment! Where else can you get away with sitting in front of a computer and clicking all sorts of things that you love and "plan" to do? I always use the excuse "well I'm looking for a new thing to make for dinner". My hubs always wants a fresh new spin on things because when it comes to cooking I'm not the best. Enter Pinterest!! I ave found some amazing things on there that even my meat and potatoes man loved. So I was again struggling to plan a dinner and he wanted pork so to the boards I went and I picked the Praire Pork Chops from the Semi Homemade Mom blog. I think the recipe came from the Prairie Story blog but I found it on Kellys

I am all about simple and one-dish meals because along with not being crazy about cooking, I am not fond of cleaning up afterwards and it'll usually sit through the night beacuse I have a lot of better things to do. (Enter Pinterest again. See I told you I had a problem.) These also have a very nice mixture of sweet and salty. I'm not always a fan of it but paired this way it was great. Also with the stuffing it was like a little preview of Thanksgiving dinner!

Anyways here is her recipe and please go check out her blog. There's a new meal plan every Monday and all sorts of new and fun things that always turn out delich!

  • 8 pork chops
  • 1/2 cup spicy mustard
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 box Stove Top stuffing
  • 1 can corn, drained
  • 1 cup water
Spray 9x13 baking dish with non-stick spray. In a shallow bowl, mix brown sugar and mustard. One by one, coat each side of pork chops with mustard mixture. Top chops with any remaining mixture. In a medium sized bowl, mix stuffing, corn, and water. Top pork chops with stuffing mixture. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.
The only thing that I did different is I used dijon mustard instead of spicy because I didn't have any. What I did have was a very fussy baby that needed a nap so no way was I goingt to try to head to the store. They turned out amazing anyways and next time I will do the spicy to see if there is much of a difference.
I hope you enjoy this as much as my family did!

I Voted!

Today is that day. The one we've all been waiting for the past few months. I'm not sure what I'm more excited about. Is it the anticipation of the results or that the campaign commercials and the overwhelming campaign calls to my cell phone (how'd they get that number!!?) will all end tomorrow!! Well either way and whatever you are more excited about just get out there and vote. It's like they say, if you want a right to complain then express your right to vote.

I went to my poll station with my little boy and he thought he was so special to be able to go and get a sticker. Even though he thinks its a fireman sticker because my poll was at the little fire station down the road. It's good to get the little generations involve in this process if you can.

I'm not into all that political talk and arguments so I won't say who I picked but here's hoping. Happy Election Day to all.

A picture a day challenge and a day of firsts

So here it is. My first official posting to a brand new adventure. So excited. I'm also so very excited that I have a pretty cool topic to write about. The November picture a day challenge. Being as it is the first day in November and this is my first post on my first blog I would say that it is a full on day of firsts for me. It's like having a new baby!

Well on with it. So my dear sweet sister texted me this morning and suggested that we follow the November photo a day challenge that the blog hosts. If that link doesn't work I'm sorry my laptop got a virus and is acting a little fatigue-ish after I cleaned it up. (Yes I just made that a word!) More on that at a later date cause I sure have some words to say for those hackers!! Anywho. So I read the list, loved the topics and decide in an instant yes! We are doin this and it is going to be great. Why have I ignored these for so long?? Crazy me. Well to say the least, day one was super easy. Something that starts with "c". Candy! And I have a lot of it since last night was Halloween. So a quick snap and a filter and we end up with this below for my first challenge.

Pretty cute if I must say. So I posted to my little Instagram page and added my hashtag and checked it off the list.

Already thinking about what tomorrow will be. The challenge states colour. So I'm hoping to find a really stunning color while I'm out and about tomorrow.

If you'd like to follow along and join the challenge then here is the list of challenges.

And if you'd like to follow my challenge results on Instagram I am rbpadgett. (Again my links are not correct but I will have that remedied very soon!)

Good luck and don't forget your hashtags so everyone can see your pics. #fmsphotoaday
